CADILLAC MARGARITA

Hola! I hope everyone is having an awesome sunny summer day! Today’s post is all about one of my favourite cocktail recipes:

The Cadillac Margarita

I’ve had quite a few different kinds of margaritas in my day ok? So rest assured this cocktail recipe is tried, tested and true! Plus I love adding a little bit of a twist to the classic margarita glass to make things more fun when I have my mixology hat on!

You might be wondering – what is the difference between a regular margarita and a Cadillac Margarita?

1. The Cadillac Margarita is made with aged (reposado) tequila, which gives the drink a little bit of a sweeter taste (not because it actually is sweeter, but because it’s richer) – having a sweet tooth myself, I much prefer this to the other kinds tequila for a margarita. Tip: Make sure it’s premium and well-aged. Trust me – it makes a difference!

2. The Cadillac Margarita is made with Grand Marnier instead of Triple Sec, which is a Cognac-based orange liqueur which makes it a curaçao style liqueur – again I much prefer this and think it tastes way better!

Now that you’ve had a little margarita fun fact session, let’s get mixing!

The Ingredients (to make one Cadillac Margarita)

WARNING – I like my margaritas strong – so if you are not the type that likes strong drinks, put in the lesser amounts I list below

- 2-4 ounces of Premium Reposado Tequila

- 0.5-1 ounce of Grand Marnier

- 1 tbsp Organic Agave Syrup

- 1-2 Organic Limes

- Ice

The Tools

  • A Citrus Juicer

  • A Shearing Knife

  • A Cutting Board

  • Measuring Spoons

  • A Shaker

  • A Margarita Glass

The Directions

1. Put ice into the shaker

2. Cut the limes in half and squeeze 1.5-3 ounces depending on how strong you want your margarita. Add to the shaker.

3. Add the Grand Marnier to the shaker.

4. Add the Premium Reposado Tequila to the shaker.

5. Add the Organic Agave Syrup to the shaker.

6. Mix it up! (Click here on how to properly shake a drink/cocktail)

Et Voila! There’s your margarita!

Easy.

Delicious.

Refreshing.

Perfect to make with some authentic Mexican fish tacos (click here for my recipe) during a hot summer Saturday afternoon with some friends!

Try it out and let me know what you think!
