Want to give mom or grandma something priceless? This easy quick diy mothers day gift is perfect for those who have a young child. It's a framed clay hand and footprint of their child/grandchild that will be a keepsake forever! A natural and neutral aesthetic, perfect for everyone.
WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE THE EASY QUICK DIY GIFT FOR MOTHERS DAY
Not too much to buy, and not too expensive! Here's what you need:
AIR DRY CLAY - You can also get it at any project store like Michaels or JoAnn Fabric if you would like to pick it up immediately.
SHADOW BOX FRAME - I like this frame as it is well made and comes in multiple sizes and types of wood to cater to your aesthetic and style.
CUTTING TOOLS - I just use these tools as they serve for multiple purposes and are perfect for cutting your clay before it dries! This particular tool set also comes with a roller which is also needed for the foundation of your project.
LETTER STAMPS - these come in handy if you do DIY projects, regularly. Otherwise, you could also just buy some letter stickers!
GLUE - this glue is perfect for these kinds of projects. Strong and sturdy!
SURFACE TO CREATE - I like using a wooden board (with a little flour for non-stick) or any project surface for easy clean up!
CREATING THE GIFT
Start off by rolling the clay. You want it to be thick enough so that the footprint doesn't come out on the other side, but not too thick as to be too heavy for the glue once it's set in the frame. The size of the clay perimeter should be smaller than the frame backing - this is to your liking, but for me, I like having a larger frame, so I made the clay perimeter as small as possible. Be sure to also leave room for the name tag which goes below the clay footprint/handprint.
Have your child stamp their handprint/footprint on the clay. For younger children, you may need another set of hands to help you steady their foot/hand.
Set aside the clay piece and grab a small scrap piece of clay and roll it out about the same thickness as the main clay piece. Stamp your clay with the little one's name, and cut around the name to create a tag.
Let the clay dry! I let mine sit for 12 hours, but there are clays that dry very fast so you don't need to wait that long!
Once the clay has dried, take your glue and glue it to the backing of the shadow frame.
After the glue has set, put it in the frame and you're done! A perfect gift for a loved one in no time!

The steps above is what I chose to do for my project, but there are many other projects you can choose to do similar to this one!
I hope you're projects are as enjoyable as mine! There's nothing better than giving someone a gift that is meaningful and made by yourself!
"Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." – 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
