Skin - the biggest organ of the body. We need to make sure to take care of it! Here are my holy grail commandments on what to do (and not to do!) to keep your skin super healthy and youthful!

1. THOU SHALT NOT SLEEP IN YOUR MAKEUP

Someone doing a full-glam look probably has words like ‘blend blend blend’ in mind. Putting a lot of makeup on (especially with foundation and powders) clogs the pores of our skin.
Without properly removing the makeup, the makeup gets embedded into the skin, stretching the pores making them look bigger.
No one wants that! So make sure to properly cleanse your face every night, and don’t forget about moisturizer!

2. THOU SHALT NOT EXPOSE YOUR SKIN TO THE SUN

With my skin, I definitely cannot be in the sun for very long. I actually try to avoid mid-day sun as it tends to be the hottest and most extreme around then. If I ever want to get some sunshine, I try to go during the morning or early evening. And I never go outside without putting on some good SPF - even if it’s cloudy!
The SPF I am currently using is the Lancome Ultra Fluid Testure Facial Sunscreen in SPF 50, and for my body, I use the Lancome Soleil Bronzer Smoothing and Refreshing Protective Cream.
3. THOU SHALT NOT CONSTANTLY TOUCH YOUR FACE

Germs, germs, germs!
Bacteria from your hands can transfer onto your face if you touch it which can make you breakout or even get sick. Also keep in mind that our cell phones are a place that bacteria thrive, so if you answer your phone without speaker or Bluetooth, don’t press the phone against your face! Bacteria isn’t the only reason we shouldn’t touch our face. When we scratch, pull or rub our skin, it can cause damage, so don’t make it a habit. Best to leave your face - and neck area - alone!
4. THOU SHALT BE GENTLE WITH YOUR SKIN

If you have a pimple, you might have this urge to try popping it - DON’T DO IT! Your body will get rid of the pimple when it’s ready. If you try and pop it (especially when it’s just starting to form), you could cause a lot more damage to your skin than if you left it alone. Plus, you could get an infection from bacteria getting into the open wound.
Also try not to rub, scratch or pull on your skin and neck too much. Your face and neck are sensitive and there are areas (like below the eyes) that have an extremely thin layer of skin, so those areas you need to pay extra special attention to.
5. THOU SHALT FOLLOW A ROUTINE TAILORED TO YOUR SKIN’S NEEDS

Everyone has different skin types - and we need to be aware of our skin’s needs in order to properly take care of it.
For me, I have a regular skin type (ie. not oily or dry, just in the middle), but I tend not to drink enough water so my skin is often dehydrated - CLICK HERE TO WATCH MY VIDEO ON WATER AND LEARN JUST HOW IMPORTANT IT IS FOR US!
So I tend to go for products that are hydrating. I also turned 30 this year, so I want to make sure I have products that are anti-aging. I also gravitate towards products that are natural, with ingredients that I can actually pronounce. These are my three requirements and they tend to work well with my skin!
6. THOU SHALT DRINK AN ABUNDANCE OF WATER

Water is a huge beauty tip! There are so many benefits to hydrated skin, including less chance of pimples, pushing out bacteria, and a plump and fresh looking glow with fewer wrinkles! Water is important for much more than our skincare. It is essential to life!
7. THOU SHALT MOISTURIZE AND HYDRATE YOUR FACE
Water isn’t the only thing you can hydrate your skin with! Skin Mists and Moisturizers are also a fantastic way to make sure your skin is glowing, happy and healthy!

8. THOU SHALT GET ENOUGH SLEEP

There is such thing as beauty sleep!
When you don’t get enough sleep, your skin becomes inflamed and breaks down the proteins in the skin that keeps it smooth.
Lack of sleep also results in your blood not flowing as efficiently which means lack of oxygen - a big no-no! Sleep also causes dark circles as your blood vessels dilate.
There’s a bunch of other health-related side-effects from not getting enough sleep as well so make sure to get your Z’s!
9. THOU SHALT EXERCISE

People sometimes overlook the skin benefits of exercise! Working up a sweat is like getting a mini-facial as sweat - just be sure to have a little shower after the sweat-sesh to completely remove the guck! Exercise also promotes the skin’s elasticity. Can’t go wrong with exercise!

10. THOU SHALT EAT A NUTRITIOUS AND DELICIOUS DIET

Beauty comes from within!
This is so true! I can say that from first-hand experience. Whenever I ate sugary junk food I would almost instantly breakout and my skin would show it’s disappointment. But when I eat clean and healthy my skin couldn’t look better! My skin magically clears up and has this natural, healthy, youthful glow!
Your skin will also thank you in the long run - when you provide it with the necessary nutrients, it will stay youthful much longer!
Plus, when you eat healthy, you get all the nutrients you need for your skin to stay super healthy! And you just FEEL so much better and will have an overall happier life!
